There is nothing sweeter than the wait for your new baby. Motherhood is such a beautiful part of life. As a Cumming Maternity Photographer, I make sure to capture all of the timeless moments from bump to baby.
This session was done in one of my favorite natural light studios in Georgia. It has absolutely gorgeous light, also, the location in perfect for a little walk after the session. Aside from a beautiful location, there are a few important tips that you need to have for every maternity session.
Favorite tips from a Cumming Maternity Photographer:
First, make sure to discuss wardrobe with your client ahead of time. I like to source outfits for each family member so that their style can be reflected while still maintaining my aesthetic goal for the session. Usually I suggest flowy dresses, light and pale colors. This beautiful momma wanted bold – so we went bold and classic!
Second, bring SNACKS for the little ones. Especially if there are toddlers in the photos. They need breaks from time to time. One of my favorite tricks is to hide little snack (cherios, yogurt raisins, pez, etc) on momma. This brings the closeness and a chance for mom to snuggle, tickle, and bring the attention back to them. This hiding trick also works great for newborn sessions!! Getting toddlers to eat or find little snacks around baby is the cutest and quickest way if the sibling isn’t too interested in loving on their new baby.
Finally, posing. I have my regular photos and workflow that I try to get in each session and I use natural prompts. Try to get the family into positions that will feed into natural candid photos. This session is a perfect example, the first photo was of mom and dad near the bed posed. We asked big brother to sneak up on dad and tickle him. He was so excited and that led to mom looking at her boys, true candid laughs, and a genuinely beautiful moment and photo.
