There are so many reasons to love in home newborn photo sessions. They are so natural and really document the special time in your family’s life. Capturing the nursery, style, home, and of course pets are just additional fun parts of a lifestyle photo session.

Each house and nursery has a very different style, color scheme, and of course natural light availability. Some better than others of course! So how can we use all the possible light in a small room or low light scenario? First, I always make sure to open up all the shades and blinds. We want every ounce of light to enter the lens. Next, bringing up your ISO will help pull in an extra light as well! Posing is such a huge factor in getting that soft light on your client’s face. In a few photos I used the mirror to bounce some light and also had our gorgeous models face the window at a 45 degree angle! This creates those gorgeous soft shadows as well. While I try to get the best images right away in the camera, I can always go back and edit in photoshop/lightroom!
